Piling protection with SnapJacket
2,000+ pilings protected
Wood pilings fail first at the waterline, where rot and marine borers eat away the wood until the piling narrows into an hourglass. The dock above may still be in good shape. Replacing it all is expensive and slow; protecting the pilings in place usually is not.

How SnapJacket works
A SnapJacket is a rigid jacket that snaps closed around the existing piling. Once it is in place, the space between the jacket and the damaged wood is filled, encasing the weak section and sealing it off from water, rot and marine borers. The result is a clean, protected piling that can keep carrying the dock.
- Repairs pilings in place without removing the dock
- Restores and protects the section lost at the waterline
- Seals out rot and marine borers
- Much faster and less disruptive than a rebuild
- Clean, uniform look above and below the waterline

Signs your pilings need protection
- Pilings narrowing at the waterline
- Soft wood, holes or heavy barnacle growth at the tide line
- A dock that shakes or sways more than it used to
- Cracks or splits running up from the waterline
We will inspect every piling and tell you which ones can be protected and which, if any, need to be replaced. For new construction, we also install EcoPile composite pilings that never rot.
